The Importance of Seventh House in Vedic Astrology

Seventh House: In the seventh house of Vedic astrology Saptama; Jamitra; Chittottha (desire); Kama; Dvuna (love); Madha (passion); Gamana (cohabitation); Astha - setting; Advan (a way or road); Loka (public); Kalathra (wife or husband); Pathni; pathi; Kalathrasampat (dowry).

The seventh house is the "House of union or earthy ties". The seventh house represents legal bondage; it is through this that one ought to divine about marriage. Although marriage is principally the concern of the seventh houses, it is necessary to consider the houses 2 and 11 also in this respect.

By marriage, it is meant that there is an addition to the family. The second house includes father, mother, wife, children, etc.The married partner brings permanent tie of friendship for progeny and pleasure which is influenced by the 11th house. Therefore, one has to examine not only the seventh house but also the houses 2nd 11. Houses 2, 7 and 11 connected with benefic planets either by association or by aspect denote that the partner in life will come of a respectable family, be virtuously disposed and will possess good qualities to enable one to lead a happy and harmonious wedded life.

The Importance of Seventh House in Vedic Astrology

Besides the life partner, the partner in trade or business and the degree of success achieved through such partnership is also shown by this house. The seventh house also refers to all those with whom the native is engaged in quarrels and comes into conflict in the open through arguments, those with whom the native is engaged in quarrels and comes into conflict in the open through arguments, litigation, duels, etc., in a nut shell; the seventh house may be said to indicate all those with whom the native transacts or deals in any manner- the engineer or contractor who builds ; the doctor attending on the native or the patient on whom the native attends if he happens to be a medical practitioner ; the person who lends the native money or he who borrows from the native; and so on. Good aspects to the planet in the seventh house or to the cusp or to the cusp of the seventh house portray good relationship with the public and favor from them. During the period of the planer in evil aspect, one ought to be careful in undertaking any public activity.

This house shows break of journey. The third house signifies short journeys and the ninth hose denotes long journeys. The seventh house indicates visits to various places in one and the same trip. One's influence in foreign countries and the honour and reputation achieved there, depends on the planet in the 7th house and the aspect it receives.

The first house of Vedic astrology denotes longevity while the 7th house opposes and is a maraka house; i.e., danger to longevity. Houses 8, 3 and 1infiunce longevity and one has to examine these three houses to determine whether one will be long-lived, or will live up to the middle age, or only up to the adult age, or die in infancy. The twelfth house to any bhava is said to be negation of that particular bhava, that is to say, it spoils the matters signified by that bhava. Therefore the houses 7, 2 and 12 which are respectively in 12 to houses 8, 3 and I prove inimical to longevity and are so termed 'marakasthanas'.

In prasna or Horary Astrology, this house answers queries relating to the recovery of lost property, describes the thief, pickpockets, etc. the lagna represents the owner of stolen property. The fourth bhava denotes the place of the stolen article. The 7th shows thief. The 8th bhava being 2 to the 7th indicates the thief's wealth. So when the planet in 7 or the lord of 7 is eclipsed or weak, the thief will be caught. The lagna represents one's routine life and thereby permanent place of residence; the seventh house which is the opposite to it shows change of residence. One ought to see the seventh house as will as the third for the change of residence.

In Mundane or politics in Vedic Astrology, the seventh house is considered in matters pertaining to international relationships and arbitrations; war and foreign affairs, international trade, general condition of women and laws relating to marriage and divorce, public reaction to national policies, public meetings, etc. westerners call this the house of open warfare and enmity as well as of treaties and alliances.

The seventh house is also regarded as dealing with the native's third brother or sister. The third house from the lagna indicates the first younger brother or sister; the house which is the third to the third sows the second younger brother; the house which is the third to the 5th house represents the third younger brother or sister. It is also the house of self acquisition of the native's servant or employee, being the 2nd house counted from the 6th representing servants. Because the 5th house shows the first child or conception, the7th which is the 3rd to the 5th represents the first child's younger brother or sister or the native's second child; the 9th denotes the third child and so on in this manner. Being in 4 to the 4th house indicating mother, the 7th house deals with mother's immovable property, vehicle, etc .According to Uttara Kalamritam, the 7th house rules the adopted child. This is understandable because one who is issueless may take his younger brother's child in adoption. This is not uncommon.

The seventh house of Vedic astrology also denotes the secret enemy's danger, difficulties, death etc., being in to the 12th house; the religion, long journeys, higher education of friends or elder brother being the 9th reckoned from the 11th house; the honour and credit of the Governments being in 10 to 10; associates and friends of father being the 11th house to the 9th. The native might enter into partnership with his father's friend.

The Nakshatras - The 27 Lunar Mansions of Vedic Astrology

The Nakshatras are 27 constellations in the sky measuring 13 degrees 20 minutes each. This is the most ancient of zodiacs, mentioned in texts long before mention of Rasis.

Basis Above and Basis Below:
The basis above is what is in the mind of the deity of the Nakshatra when thinking about life upon earth. The basis below is the natural consequence, or how that mindset manifests when living upon earth. It is not what is consciously in the mind of a person, it is the natural predisposition and what grows from this natural predisposition.

Shakti:
Shakti is the power inherent in the Nakshatra and the power in the mind of the individual. This power is innate and does not need conscious interference or will power. It is as innate as the color of one's eyes even if the native is not aware of it.

Roy Rogers, the cowboy actor, has his natal Moon here and he was featured in over one hundred movies with his Palamino and German Shepherd. Peter Fonda, the lead in "Easy Rider", also is an Ashwini native. The chopper was his metal stallion carrying him swiftly across the United States.

Bharani

"To bear"

13°20 - 26°40 Aries

Deity: Yama, the god of death

Symbol: vagina

Shakti: power to take things away

Basis Above: removal of life from the body

Basis Below: carry the soul to the realm of the ancestors

Result: Moving on to the next world

Bharani people are obsessed with death and/or transformation. Their power lies in taking things away. As long as the things taken away are negative or counterproductive, then the Bharani person works in line with the universe. For example, if one has a brain tumor, a Bharani surgeon will effectively be able to take it away. Garbage needs to be taken away. Psychologically, negative attitudes and self-defeating habits need to be taken away so that the person can better themselves. The vagina, as the symbol of Bharani, takes away the semen to produce another life, it takes away the vital essence of one being to create another. As a side note, Jim Morrison had his Moon in Bharani. Did you see the movie, "The Doors"? Throughout the entire movie, he spoke about and was obsessed with the subject of death. Many of his songs were about death.

Krittika

In Vedic myth, the Moon stayed with Rohini to the detriment of his other wives because of her beauty grace and charm. The father of the brides, Daksha, cursed the Moon, so now he waxes and wanes as he visits all of his wives. Rohini people make wonderful dancers, Fred Astaire has his natal Moon here. Mrigashira individuals are charming, changeable, timid, and impulsive. They like to hunt for the objects of their desires. The house placement of the Moon as well as any planets conjunct the Moon in Mrigashira will give clues as to what the native is hunting. Mrigashira is an animal Nakshatra, so there is a natural love of animals and nature unless planets are severely afflicted here. Also, as a side note, Mrigashira people often have big, beautiful, doe-like eyes. An example is Brooke Shields and Goldie Hawn who both have their Moons in this asterism.

Ardra

"the moist one"

6°40 - 20°00 Gemini

Deity: Rudra, the storm-god

Symbol: a teardrop

Shakti: the power of effort

Basis Above: to hunt or search

Basis Below: reach the goal

Result: achievement

Rudra, the god of Ardra, is a form of Shiva. Shiva is very unconventional and heretical in his actions and views, so Ardra people are inclined to be the same way. The symbol is a teardrop, so high emotion is associated with this asterism. Often Ardra individuals will be moved to tears, and since Shiva is the god of destruction and suffering, often Ardra people will suffer for what they want and to achieve their goals. In order to reach the goal, there is suffering and destruction of some sort along the way. Ardra's planetary ruler is Rahu, showing an obsessive, strong desire nature. Ardra natives can make their goals their obsessions, giving a powerful impetus for success, however if they do not have a beneficial and healthy goal, they can fall into addictions. Janis Joplin and Farrah Fawcett have their natal Moons placed here. The sad story of Janis Joplin's addictions ruining her after she achieved great success is well known.

Luck naturally comes the way of the Pushya person. Prosperity and wealth are also attributes that seem to bless the life of the native of Pushya. Ashlesha natives entwine or embrace that which they desire. They have a hypnotic, sensual, undulating quality which can metaphorically paralyze the object of their gaze. The poison they inflict can be to destroy or an ambrosial nectar that will bring about illusions within the recipient. They do not have the magnetic, charismatic qualities to sway the masses, usually their hypnotic powers work best on a one to one basis. Snakes are representative of the kundalini energy so this asterism has intense mystical power. The sarpas inhabit the underworld, so the Ashlesha native will be fascinated by the hidden, occult, deeply psychological areas of life. They are also akin to snakes as they periodically shed their skin and go through many transformations in life. Examples of Ashlesha natives are Marilyn Manson where the fascination with the dark side of life is quite apparent. Barbara Streisand is also a native with an Ashlesha moon. As a worthy note, Ashlesha rules fingernails; she possesses these in abundance and they are world famous.

Magha

0 - 13°20 Leo

Deity: The Pitris, the deified ancestors

Symbol: throne room, royal court

Shakti: the power to leave the body

Basis Above: mourning

Basis Below: leaving the body

Result: death

This Nakshatra is a very fated Nakshatra. These natives are highly relegated by what their ancestors have done and the desires of their ancestors. This Nakshatra has as its basis above, mourning, which above all is an awareness in the consciousness that things must be let go of and moved past. There are several phases in life that the person will move through and many people and situations they will be obliged to let go of. In the mythology of this Nakshatra, the Pitris live on the Moon, which represents that the ancestors are connected to our genetic make-up and guiding the destiny because of the link with consciousness. Because of the connection to the "throne room" and royal court, Magha natives often obtain a high level of success and fame in life. Winston Churchill and Joseph Stalin have their natal Moon in this asterism.

Purva Phalguni

"the former red one"

13°20 - 26°40 Leo

Deity: Bhaga, the god of wealth, especially inherited wealth

Symbol: legs of a cot

Shakti: the power to procreate

Basis Above: the wife, female partner

Basis Below: the husband, male partner

Result: the creation of a living being

All Purva Nakshatras deal with tremendous creative and conceptual powers. The Uttara Nakshatras are the natural follow up as they make the ideas and concepts into tangible results. Purva Phalguni is a highly creative Nakshatra with many artists and musicians as its natives. There is a predisposition to being overly sensual and fascinated by sexuality. These natives seem to create something of value while in partnership, not necessarily romantic partnership. When they create alone, it is most often unbalanced. There is a strong thirst for direct experience and a need to have concepts recognized. At one time the most famous woman in the world, Madonna, has her natal Moon here. Madonna's fascination with sexuality and artistic talents are well known. Most of her documented life she has been one half of a partnership.

Uttara Phalguni

Uttara Phalguni is an asterism that will take the concepts and ideas of the previous Nakshatra and turn them into tangible results. This is a wealth Nakshatra and the native is able to benefit greatly from the wealth of his family and the wealth of the partner if the Moon is unafflicted here. It does not necessarily mean that the native's family is wealthy or that the partner is wealthy, but that the native benefits from these avenues of wealth. This is also a Nakshatra where partnerships are favored and anything created in a partnership will thrive and bring wealth. Examples of this wealth through partnership can be seen through the natives of Barbara Bach, the wife of Ringo Starr and Eva Braun, the chere amie of Hitler.

Hasta

"the hand"

10°00 - 23°20 Virgo

Deity: Savitar the Sun, giver of life

Symbol: a hand or fist

Shakti: the power to gain our desire and place it in our hand

Basis Above: seeking gain

Basis Below: obtaining the desire

Result: obtainment of wish and put in one's hand

Hasta natives can acquire the objects of the desires in their consciousness. If their Moon is afflicted, they will be confused about what they want. Out of divine inspiration, these natives will usually unselfishly create with their hands. Orville Wright has his natal Moon here. Savitar also rules mantras and divine words, so the Hasta native will have a good capacity for writing and speaking. Sylvia Plath, the tragic but incredibly talented poet, had her natal Moon here as well. Her Moon however, was very dim and in the 8th house, hence her poems were about death and transformation of the psyche.

Chitra

"the bright" "the distinguished"

23°20 Virgo - 6°40 Libra

They like to shine in what they do and do it with a certain flair and magnetism. They also like to be completely responsible for their creations as the deity, Vishvakarma is the divine architect. Chitra natives try to do their best in everything they do and they are extremely motivated to follow their own Truth. They are bright, charismatic and usually powerful. If the Moon is severely afflicted, what they believe to be the Truth may be highly twisted, but they will still be motivated to follow their own personal path. These natives will have flashes of inspiration and will want to become self-realized. Righteous activity will result in accumulation of merit, the shakti of Chitra. Sylvester Stallone, Ted Turner and both George Bushes have their Moons in Chitra.

Swati

"the independent one"

6°40 - 20°00 Libra

Deity: Vayu, deified wind

Symbol: a young sprout swaying in the wind

Shakti: the power to scatter like the wind

Because their shakti is to scatter like the wind, they will be adventurous and restless and love to travel. Wind governs speech and the communicative faculty, the vocal chords, so these native will have natural talents in speaking and singing. Vayu, the deity of this Nakshatra, is also lord of the celestial musicians, so these natives often love music or have talent in this area. These natives are also planners, they do not act impulsively. The inherent nature of cultivation and then reaping the harvest takes time, so these natives are very patient and persistent. They are multi-faceted and have many talents. They often will make good farmers and gardeners. Vishakha natives will cultivate their ideas and creations until they have reached perfection. The deities are ones of lightning and fire, so therefore are extremely intense and often will disregard others in their pursuit of their desire. Jimmy Carter, who was once a farmer and Jules Verne, who was both a writer of science fiction and a politician, both have their native Moons here.

Anuradha

"additional Radha"

3°20 - 16°40 Scorpio

Deity: Mitra, god of friendship, lord of compassion

Symbol: a lotus, archway

Shakti: the power of worship

Basis Above: to ascend

Basis Below: to descend

Result: Honor and abundance

Natives with Anuradha as their Nakshatra have a very fated path with regard to friends. Really good friends are naturally fated because they usually give us help when needed and boosts in career, finance, etc. Anuradha is also ruled by Saturn, the planet of fate. These natives usually take longer than usual to reach their goals and must go through many adversities in early life before they are able to come into their own as represented by the lotus. Honor and loyalty play a major role in their life as well. They are often very devoted to something, hence their shakti as power of worship. The worship does not have to be something spiritual, it can be a concept, a career, a person. The god Mitra, abhors violence and disputes, so these natives usually do not like passionate confrontations. Because Jyeshtha means the eldest, these people often hold positions of seniority and authority. There is very powerful sexual potency in this Nakshatra and these natives have a forceful impact on people and may be prone to adultery and illicit sexual encounters. Their sexual desire may cause them to seek fulfillment outside of their primary relationships. The Jyeshtha person can never be held down. Tiger Woods, Oprah Winfrey and Alexander the Great are some examples of Jyeshtha natives

Mula

Mula is a constellation at the middle of the Milky Way, so these natives become intensely interested in their object of study and penetrate the core of whatever it is that they are focused upon. They like to uncover secret knowledge. Because of the naturally difficult aspects of this Nakshatra, Mula natives are prone to experience utter loss and disappointment at some time in their lives. As this is happening, Nirriti will give a healing salve to those in distress. She is also protector of those people who are mentally and physically disabled The Mula person will confront fear and it will flee. A Mula person has an inner warrior that can confront anything. Prominent Mula people are Henri Matisse and Krishnamurti.

Purva Nakshatras, as mentioned before, are concerned with concepts and ideas. Purva Ashadha's deity, Apas, is the goddess of waters. In this context it means water as flowing. Purva Ashadha people are invigorating and inspiring. They like to feel connected. Water is what invigorates us in the body. When we are dehydrated we feel de-energized and uninvigorated; flowing water remedies this. These people have great luster and charisma. They use their natural strength to bring people together for a cause. Because it is "the former undefeated", these people tend to succeed quickly and success and victory. This is also a highly creative Nakshatra with a lot of sexual potency, so they tend to attract romantic partners and friends that help them win their goals. Other prominent people with this Nakshatra are Johnny Depp, Ernest Hemingway and Cher.

George Washington and Abraham Lincoln have their Moons here. Uttara Ashadha people have an intense desire behind which they throw their strong will to achieve a victory that endures. They have leadership qualities and a natural diplomacy.

Shravana

"the ear"

10°00 - 23°20 Capricorn

Deity: Vishnu, the Pervader

Symbol: three footprints

Shakti: the power to connect

Basis Below: paths

Result: connection of all things

As "the ear" is representative of Shravana, hearing becomes very important for this Nakshatra. Hearing becomes what we think. These natives want to connect things and people, so what they hear becomes a means for connection. What they hear decides their path. You know the saying, "That sounds good". This determines our decision when something sounds better than something else. This is also the Nakshatra of listening, so these natives make great listeners and develop a profound wisdom. Three footprints symbolize walking and traveling, so the Shravana person will like to walk, run and/or travel. Charles Manson has his Moon in this Nakshatra. He killed because he heard the White Album of the Beatles and believed it was heralding a race war. Henry Ford also has this asterism and what better way to connect people than to provide automobiles which made travel much faster and efficient.

The natives enjoy spending time in the woods away from the hustle and bustle of crowded cities. Many of these natives are born into wealth and then acquire even more as life progresses or they are born famous or within a famous family. They have a knack for acquiring fame and fortune if they are not born into it. Often these natives give birth to something original as that is there basis above. Fidel Castro gave birth to Communism in Cuba. He is considered an extremely successful leader amongst his own people. A musical drum as the symbol often make these natives musicians or gives a good rhythm as in dancing.

Before Varuna was associated with water, he was the god of the "all-encompassing sky" and he was the support for creation. He actually created the Nakshatras, thus these natives seem to be all knowing and know things without any methodical practice. They can assimilate diverse information and unite it into an all-encompassing theory. Since Varuna created the Nakshatras, these natives exist to heal the creation. Each individual jiva needs to be healed, that is the purpose of creation, to heal, so that enlightenment can be reached. The all pervading aspect of Shatabisha shows up in the horoscope of J. Edgar Hoover, the former head of the FBI.

Purva Bhadrapada

"earlier auspicious one"

20°00 Aquarius - 3°20 Pisces

Deity: Aja Ekapada, the one-footed goat

Symbol: double faced man, a sword, two front legs of a funeral bed

Shakti: the power of spiritual fire which is elevating

Basis Above: that which is good for people

Basis Below: that which is good for the gods

Result: to gain support for the entire world through spiritual knowledge

Purva Bhadrapada natives are inspired by what is good for all people. They are motivated by supporting the world through knowledge and do not have a need to be recognized for what they do. This is a devotional, worship centered Nakshatra. When they become interested in something, they will revere it. Worship is really attention. That which our attention focuses upon the most consistently and methodically is that which we worship. Hugh Hefner has his natal Moon here and through his worship of the female form, was able to create a publishing empire. Martin Luther King also has his Moon here and was able to create and promote concepts and ideas of fairness and equality.

Uttara Bhadrapada

"later auspicious one"

3°20 - 16°40 Pisces

Deity: Ahir Budhya, serpent of the deep

Symbol: two joined men, the back end of a funeral bed

Shakti: the power to bring rain

Basis Above: the raining of clouds

Basis Below: the growth of plants

Result: Nourishment and balance between earth and sky

Uttara Bhadrapada natives want to bring nourishment. The world is not stable because there is hunger and need. These natives want to bring stability by fulfilling needs. They want to bring about peace and balance. Uttara Bhadrapada's skakti is to bring the rain. Rain represents a quelling of a thirsty earth, but also the condensation of ideas and inspiration into tangible form that can do some good in a practical way. Bill Gates is an Uttara Bhadrapada native. He answered a need for the sharing of information and heightened communication and fulfilled that need with a concrete product. Now anyone almost anywhere in the world can find information about any subject or find what they want through a computer.

Revati

"wealthy"

16°40 - 30°00 Pisces

Deity: Pushan, Sun as Nourisher and finder of lost things and animals

Symbol: a drum, fish

Shakti: the power of nourishment

Basis Above: cows

Basis Below: calves

Result: Nourishment of entire world

Revati natives will go out of their way to care for someone. They instinctively know what is needed on an immediate physical or psychological level and as a result are usually wonderful people to have as friends. Revati natives also love traveling and usually had great good luck while on travels. The symbol of a drum gives them good dancing and musical ability. They also love animals. If planets are severely afflicted here, there may come harm from animals. Angelina Jolie has her natal Moon here. She has been deeply moved by the hunger and poverty she has seen in third world countries and has now dedicated her life to helping those in need. She has adopted impoverished children and given them a life they would never have dreamed of. She is also constantly globe trotting to fulfill her new humanitarian obligations.

Mayan Zodiac Symbols - What These Ancient Astrology Signs Mean For You

Mayan zodiac symbols are another way of determining your personality through astrology signs. The symbols are based on the ancient Haab calendar which has been determined to be over 5,000 years old.

Many people have never heard of the Mayan zodiac, but with increased interest in the year 2012 this information is being sought out more and more.

The Haab calendar is an approximately 365 day year calendar that is broken up into 19 months or signs. Your zodiac symbol is based on the day of your birth, similar to traditional astrology. The date ranges for each sign are listed below.

Mayan Zodiac Symbols - What These Ancient Astrology Signs Mean For You

Ch'en: January 2nd to January 21st
Yax: January 22nd to February 10th
Sac: February 11th to March 2nd
Keh: March 3rd to March 22nd
Mak: March 23rd to April 11th
K'ank'in: April 12th to May 1st
Muwan: May 2nd to May 21st
Pax: May 22nd to June 10th
Kayab: June 11th to June 30th
Kumk'u: July 1st to July 20th
Wayeb: July 21st to July 25th
Pop: July 26th to August 14th
Wo: August 15th to September 3rd
Sip: September 4th to September 23rd
Sotz: September 24th to October 13th
Sec: October 14th to November 2nd
Xul: November 3rd to November 22nd
Yaxk'in: November 23rd to December 12th
Mol: December 13th to January 1st

Discovering the meanings and interpretations of Mayan zodiac symbols has been one of the largest quests by modern astrologers. Historians have accurately deciphered hieroglyphics from scrolls depicting the Haab calendar to come up with some basic interpretations.

For example, the jaguar, which played a large role in the culture and society of Mayans is featured as animal totems for three of the signs. So is the dog, which was considered to be a guide into the next world for those who pass from this one.

Other symbolism that plays a large effect in the Mayan astrology signs are the elements, the four cardinal directions, numerology and seasons of the year for agriculture.

The Truth About Astrology

I've been a student of astrology for about 36 years now and the most amazing thing to me is all the untruths or half-truths that are constantly circulated about it. If your level of understanding of astrology has been what the newspapers put out ( on the comic pages, usually...), this article should be mind-boggling. If you've read a few magazine articles, you'll find a few things you may not have considered. But if you're a person who's read a number of books about astrology, this article may say nothing new to you OR it may seem like it's not actually about astrology--depends on the books you've been reading.

The first truth about astrology I want to share is that no one has only one Sign. Let's say you were born on April 15th. You'd be expected to say, "I'm an Aries." Well, that's true as far as it goes but it just doesn't go far enough. In fact, if you think that what's said about Aries in the books, magazines or newspapers is "exactly" what you are and only what you are, you really need to look a little deeper into yourself--you're missing a lot!

The fact that you're "an Aries" or "a Capricorn" or "Whatever" is saying that, when you were born, the Sun was in that Sign of the Zodiac. And, it is very important where your Sun was when you were born because the Sun in astrology refers to your Central Life Purpose--can't get much more important than that!

The Truth About Astrology

However...

How do you actually go about "doing" that central purpose? The first place to look for an answer to that question is where the Moon was when you were born. And, since there are twelve places (the Signs) the Moon could have been, there are twelve different ways someone with any particular Sun-Sign can Do their central purpose. So, if someone says to me, "I'm a ______fill in the Sign.", I want to say (but may not due to tact), "Which of the twelve kinds of ______ are you?"

So, the truth is you have a Sun-Sign, a Moon-Sign, and eight other important Signs because everyone has eight other planets in their full chart. Some of these planets may be in the same Sign (happens often) so most people end up with about four or five of the twelve Signs very prominent in their lives. It's like a chord of notes being sounded--like the truth of psychology that everyone has many sides to their whole self.

An even deeper truth about astrology is that we all have all twelve Signs in our personalities. It's just that certain ones are stronger depending on where the planets are. Still, if someone says to me, "I just can't stand ______fill in the Sign!", I really have to wonder why they've met so many screwed-up people with their Sun in _______ OR I have to wonder why they don't like the _______part of themselves. Since everyone has all twelve Signs and they all have a place in our lives, if someone can say they don't like one of the Signs, aren't they also saying they don't like a certain part of themselves? Think about it...

So, we all have all twelve of the energies represented by the Signs of astrology and most of us have four or five of them very prominent in our personalities. One thing this truth shoots down is the common practice of saying that certain Signs get along well or poorly with other Signs. Because most people think your "Sign" (and that we have only one) is all there is to astrology, they can be very surprised when a person with one of the "Signs" they're supposed to get along with turns out to be someone they wish they'd never met! That's why it's so important to know more than just a Sun-Sign if you're going to use astrology to help you with relationships.

And, that leads us to another important truth about astrology. This may be real hard for some folks to understand but here it is: Astrology does not, will not, and never has predicted events. What?! Yes. It's the absolute truth, no matter if some astrologer has "predicted" something for you. What astrology does "predict" or reveal is Meaning. And, if an astrologer tells you something is going to happen, don't you think that if it does there may just be a bit of self-fulfillment in that? O.K. What if an astrologer says some event happened in your past and that, in fact, it did happen? Believe it or not, what happened is that the astrologer saw a meaning in the chart and made a very good guess at the exact event. And, here's some proof of that:

Many years ago, I had the opportunity to talk to two men, born of different mothers but at the same time at the same hospital. Since they had the same chart you'd think they would have had the same events happening in their lives, right? Well, all it takes is one contrary occurrence of something to disprove a theory and here it is:

There was a strong indicator in their charts at a certain time and I asked the first man what happened. He said his father had died. I asked the other man with the same chart what happened and he said he'd been on his first nude beach...

Obviously, the same chart had shown two very different events! Then, I asked the first man (and, by the way, I interviewed these men separately), "What did it mean when your father died?" He said that he'd felt like he'd had shackles removed (his father had been rather authoritarian). I asked the other man, "What did it mean to be on your first nude beach?" He said that he had dropped his shackles... They used exactly the same, and not so common, word to describe what two very different events meant.

So, we all have all twelve Signs and astrology doesn't predict events. Whew!

There are other truths about astrology that most people have no knowledge about but those two should help open a few minds, eh?

It's been 36 years since I was like a lot of people--believing whatever I'd been told about astrology. Now, I know the truth. Fact is, I've finally written a book about what I've learned. It's called, "Astrological Repair Manual", because I want to help repair various perceptions about astrology that can be pretty harmful if folks think they're true.

I'll end this article with this piece of advice:

Question most of what you've read or heard about astrology!

Also, I'd love to hear from you with any comments or criticisms you may have about this article. Everything can be improved, right?

Astrology Forecast for July 2012 - General Tendencies for All Sun Signs

Last month was difficult, but in July we should begin to see things improve. We will have a few difficult days with Mars, Jupiter, Uranus, and Pluto acting out, and Mercury will be doing his retrograde thing again this month. But, Jupiter and Uranus will also be sending us some unexpected blessings around the time the Sun enters Leo. All in all, compared to last month, July will feel like a walk in the park.

July will begin with an optimistic tone under the bright and shiny Sagittarius Moon, and Independence Day (July 4th) will be very nice with Mercury and Venus dancing with Uranus. We may find ourselves making new friends and new plans, and we may even find opportunities for new love on this U.S. holiday. But, the weekend of July 6th, we may feel like our energy is drained and things could be confusing, with Mars and Neptune disagreeing. It won't last long. Life should approach normalcy by Monday, July 9th. In fact the week of July 9th could be rather uneventful for most.

Those with dominate Aquarius in their charts may find that things aren't going as expected around, Friday, July 13th with Uranus turning retrograde. Please, be gentle with your Aquarius friends around this time. Also, Mercury's retrograde will begin on July 14th (July 15th Europe and east), and that could cause problems for those with dominate Virgo, Gemini, and Leo. Mercury will be doing his whole retrograde in Leo this time, and that could really slow down progress for most of us for the next few weeks. Lions love to rest. Keep expectations low for the weekend of July 13th, and if you do any traveling, expect delays. There could also be problems with authority figures this weekend, so by all means, drive the speed limit.

Astrology Forecast for July 2012 - General Tendencies for All Sun Signs

July 16th could remind us just how blue, "blue Mondays" can be. Mars will be lining up for a big fight with Uranus and Pluto. Mars will also be counting on extra aid from Jupiter. But, Jupiter may not be able to deliver all that Mars' expects, because of a different disagreement with Pluto. (It kind of reminds me of office politics.) Unexpected emotional eruptions and arguments are probable. Also when Mars and Uranus are at odds, automobile accidents are more likely. Add Pluto to the mix, and these accidents could become tragic. We may feel like we have extra energy and drive, but some of us will also make some really big mistakes. Do not press your luck. This planetary shake-up will finish up with the Cancer New Moon on July 19th.

After the New Moon, life will begin to improve. New ideas and new opportunities will begin to approach us as Ramadan begins on Friday, July 20th, and we should find that work and play will blend well for the whole weekend. It will be a great time for detailed projects, travel, and parties. Mercury's retrograde may bring old friends back into our lives around this time. It will also be a great weekend for visiting places from our past. The passed-over could also be paying us a visit, so pay attention.

We may find that Monday, July 23rd, will begin rather routine, but by evening the parties will begin. We may decide to take a short trip and catch up with old friends, or maybe we'll just chat with them on the computer. But, no matter what we do, late Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday will be an exciting time for conversations, reunions, and new ideas. Spiritual connections could also grow stronger. Conversations could get a little out of balance on Thursday, July 26th, but our attentions will be sharper than ever by Saturday, July 28th.

Life could get rather exciting during the last few days of July, but things will also feel very stable and sincere. Our decisions will be realistic and yet optimistic, and our passions will be heightened.

August could bring even more opportunities with the outer planets calming down and Mercury turning direct. We even have 2 Full Moons in August to stir our passions. Check back next month to find out more.

Using Astrology to Predict the Euro 2012 Winner

Can astrology be used to predict sports? Can it be used to predict who the winner of the Euro 2012 will be? The idea of predicting sports events has drawn astrologers and betting enthusiasts since the days of the Roman chariot races.

Sometimes astrology is used not only to predict sporting events but even to influence the decisions of the coaches when training and choosing their squad. The most famous example that springs to mind is French coach Raymond Domenech, who has admitted that a passion for astrology has impacted his squad selection. The coach, who himself is an Aquarius with Virgo rising, cut some Scorpio and Leo players from his team based on their star signs.

Things did not really go Domenech's way during the 2010 World cup in South Africa, but he isn't the only public figure to rely on readings of the stars, But does it work? How would you go about doing it?

Using Astrology to Predict the Euro 2012 Winner

Obviously all sports differ and the astrological consideration will be different for individual sports and team sports as well the skills and conditions necessary for victory in different team sports; soccer and baseball are markedly different games and therefore the astrological signs to look for should be different.

The most simplified approach usually taken is the modified exercise in horary astrology. Horary astrology is an ancient branch of horoscopic astrology by which an astrologer attempts to answer a question by constructing a horoscope for the exact time at which the question was received. Different aspects of the chart are chosen to represent the two sides, whether home team vs. away team, favorite vs. underdog, or whatever is appropriate to that particular contest. The planetary rulers of the signs on those teams are evaluated and the side with the strongest astrological indications is generally declared the winner.

Another approach astrologers use to predict sports focuses on the birth charts of the competing parties. This will include the date of birth of the players and manager, the time of the game, the position of the moon during the game, etc... Using these variables they will attempt to determine who is best supported or worst affected by the astrological conditions during the match.

We cannot go into detail as to all the different signs and astrological figures used by some astrologers, but we can take a standard astrological approach for soccer/football and in particular, who will win the Euro 2012 Championship which will be held in Poland and the Ukraine from June 11 until July 1st.. One such simplified approach would be to use colors as being astrological significant.

Lists of colors to indicate clothing and objects signified in horary charts are given by most medieval astrologers. Some lists vary and there are some overlaps but generally the choice depends on shade and texture. For example: rich shades of purple are associated with Jupiter and the Sun, pale ones with Venus and the Moon.

Using these lists we can see which team colors will be the "strongest" during the time when the matches are played. The group stages will be played from June 8, 2012 until June 19,2012, with the knockout stages being held on June 21-june 28. The final will be played on July 1st, 2012.

During the group stages from June 8 to June 11 Jupiter will be in Taurus. The strong colors for this time are: green, yellow, white and light blue. Teams wearing these shirt colors are: England, Germany, Greece, Poland, Ireland, Italy, Sweden and Ukraine. On June 11 Jupiter will enter Gemini. The strong colors are: yellow, green and orange. Teams wearing these shirt colors are: Holland, Ireland, Sweden and Ukraine. From June 25 until the final on July 1st Jupiter will be in the sign of Cancer. The strongest colors at this time are green and white.

Using these simplified color charts and the dates the matches are played we can see that Ireland, which play in both green (home jersey) and white (away jersey) will have the strongest astrological benefits in regards to their jersey colors for this championship, but will they win the Euro 2012??? That remains to be seen...
